“I wasn’t sure what exactly to expect from this class, except that it was a “dinosaur” class for older kids. This class was full of very specific and technical information about a wide range of “ancient monsters,” really digging in detail into how these creatures evolved and what the fossil records show about them. If you have a teen who is obsessed with dinosaur stuff, who cannot get enough of learning about them, this class is probably a good choice. The instructor, Ben Corey, was positive, patient, and informative, encouraging and supporting my child throughout, and giving great, specific weekly feedback on my son’s work. My son loved the class, and even I was fascinated by what I overheard. We would definitely take a class with this instructor again without hesitation. Highly recommended.”

“I was reluctant to try a flex schedule class for my learner because he enjoys the real-time connection of live classes, however I enrolled him in this class because 1) he already had a few positive experiences the teacher and really enjoys his teaching style and 2) we needed something flexible for the month of December and this class fit in standards we needed to address. I was so glad to see how this class was structured and the weekly video feedback from Mr. Corey was something we both really appreciated. “Another great class from Teacher Ben! My daughter loved the game development and cooperative nature of the class. The class also offered opportunities to draw and be creative, which my daughter really enjoyed, but she said students don’t have to do any drawing if they don’t want to because Teacher Ben provides a template for the game. My daughter recommends the class to anyone who wants to have fun studying the immune system and pathogens.

Benjamin is a great teacher, very knowledgeable and patient, he has a real love for Biology, the students are really engaged by his biology teachings. Unfortunately, the time to do the DNA model was not sufficient, and just two students could show the little they did. My son showed what he did by the end of the class and finished the rest afterwards. I recommend this class to any parent who is looking for a productive, clear and fun class regarding DNA. (The material needed is inexpensive, you can also use celery stick, grapes, or any berries) A+ class!!!”

“This was my first class with Benjamin Corey. I learned a lot, and the teacher makes it fun and entertaining. I highly recommend you take this class. If you do, you will learn about how dinosaurs slowly evolved into birds. A few hours after this class, I saw some geese. For the first time, I looked at them differently. How could the ancient kings of the earth, (the dinosaurs), turn into such animals? You have the chance to find out.”

“We had just completed a homeschool unit on cells when I saw this offering. I thought it would be a great way to help my 11 yo daughter remember the parts of the cell and their functions. She loved it! It was a very creative way to learn important concepts. Ben does a great job presenting materials in an engaging way, and involving all of the participating students in the discussion. I was initially concerned about my daughter being one of the older students in his classes but that quickly dissipated when I saw how he makes his courses accesible to younger students and challenging to older ones. He is thorough and engaging, and also provides great extensions that can be done outside of class. I highly recommend all of his courses. ”
“Benjamin is very enthusiastic about teaching science. He is a gifted educator and takes plenty of time to be sure students understand everything he is sharing. For example, he encouraged the students to ask questions at any time during the class. His class had great visuals to keep the students engaged and a helpful handout so they could follow along and remember key points. It’s obvious why he is such a highly rated instructor on Outschool and both my daughters look forward to taking more of his biology classes. I also appreciate the fact that he has cheaper introductory courses we can try out before we sign up for a more expensive, longer, more in-depth course. My daughters were 12 and 14 years old. This was a great class topic for them, as a review for the older child, and a little more information than the 12-year-old had covered on cells before. I highly recommend this class and instructor.

His drawings of these marine mammals was good; she is going to try and learn to draw them now. The class was very interactive and he had them engaged. I love how he allowed each person to give their thoughts. The videos were a hit especially for my whale & dolphin loving 10yr old. She came away with new information she intends to use for future book reports. ”
